How to be a successful Londr Washer (from an actual Londr Washer)

How to be a successful Londr Washer (from an actual Londr Washer)

Side jobs have always been my hustle. As a 47-year-old, homeschool mom of four, and pastor’s wife, working in my home where I can still manage all-things-family has been key.

However, it hasn’t always been that way!

I used to teach in the classroom, but as life progressed, my desire to be home with my kids far surpassed any desire to pursue a career. When you are home with the children and living off a single pastoral salary, one must be creative. That said, in the far, far past, I delivered phone books to make some extra income. Remember those??

I’ve also tutored, taught music lessons, been a secret shopper, and so much more. About 14 months ago, while browsing social media, I ran across an ad looking for laundry washers. I thought wow, I can do that!! I can do laundry all day long! So I reached out to Londr and became a Londr Washer.

Londr has been an amazing opportunity for me. When I first stumbled upon the ad that day, I had no idea how much this would supplement the family income. My husband just laughed at yet another of my side hustles. A year later, Londr has become a part-time job, but one I can do while still teaching my children, meeting with churchgoers, and running a homeschool co-op.

Recently, Londr introduced the white bags. These bags are typically a one-load job and easily done over the course of an hour. Whether it be a black full bag or the small white bag, I have found a few tricks to maximize my income and make the most of the opportunity.

Here are a few tips and tricks that I found set me up for success as a Londr Washer

  1. I try to only take jobs within a ten minute drive time. Since laundry can be done while you are home doing something else, the drive time seems to be ultra important when asking if it’s worth your time.  If I can get to the job within 5-10 minutes, my answer is yes.
  2. I also try to regularly accept return customers.  This will build rapport and might just land you as being labeled a favorite washer!  Everyone wants to be the favorite right???
  3. Lastly, I make it a point to leave handwritten notes in the top of the bag.  I believe so deeply that human connection always wins and I want my customers to feel cared for, even when it comes to something as simple and basic as laundry.

It’s just laundry one might say, but to me it’s so much more.  It’s an opportunity for me to help someone. It is taking a task off the long list that so many moms, dads, and professionals have day-to-day. It is about helping a business owner so that when he/she goes home at night they can be with their family. It is loving people well in the mundane and the ordinary. It’s my side hustle, but it’s also my gift to those around me.
